Lancashire Spinners continue to bolster their squad ready for the 2014-15 season and their assault on Division Two.

The Spinners, who are bringing elite basketball to the Castle Leisure Centre in Bury, have brought in seven new signings.

Ex-British Basketball League star Steven Gayle, who has previously played for Manchester Giants, Chester Jets and Worthing joins 6’10” Steven Vaughan from Reading and Blackpool-born guard Mark Rangeley, who has previously played in America and in the top flight of English basketball in Leeds.

Also joining is Conor Porter, who has played in Division One with the Manchester Magic, and former GB U20 international Josh Houghton, who has joined along with Italian league star Papis Samb.

There is also places for Stockport forward Anthony Kuczaj and Clitheroe-born Tom Sutton, who also has experience at the highest level in the UK.

Head coach Ken Masser is delighted with the squad that the club have assembled.

“We’ve got a great blend of youth and experience which should stand us in good stead in the coming year,” he said.

“We have a squad that is full of leaders with some strong personalities which will hopefully carry us through the difficult moments through the season.

“I think we have the talent to not only be very competitive but also to put on a great show for our fans.”

The Spinners launch their season with a charity game on Friday, September 12 in support of the Joshua Wilson Brain Tumor Charity.

The event includes celebrity guest CBBC host Alex Winter, legendary basketball commentator and MC Paul Sleem, cheerleading and dance groups, activities and meet and greet with the players.
