BURY have unveiled plans to appoint Forever Bury member Joy Hart to the board.

The club announced earlier today that Hart, daughter of former Bury captain, coach and manager Les Hart, had completed the required Football League forms to apply to become a director.

Once formally agreed, she will be responsible for liaising between the supporters group and the Shakers board.

“Joy’s role will be to create a more regular dialogue between the club and its fans,” read a statement from the Bury board.

“This will include quarterly fans forums as well as some open question and answer clinics.

“Both the club and Forever Bury see this as the start of a new working relationship and both sides are looking forward to working hand in hand to the benefit of the club.

“This is the new beginning that both sides believe is the way forward for all concerned and as such we urge all fans to support this partnership and join Forever Bury and enjoy the new activities that will be announced in the future.”

The first of the new forums will be held in February, following on from the next shareholders meeting, which has been scheduled for the end of January.

Bury’s decision to invite a Forever Bury member on to the board follows a u-turn by the supporters’ group before Wednesday’s general meeting, when they back-tracked on a call for shareholders to vote against proposals put forward by the club.

Dave Giffard, chairman of Forever Bury, added: “We are happy to move forward with the club. I think this is a superb appointment and I know the club are delighted with it as well.

“Joy has been a Forever Bury member for a long time and came on the board two years ago. She has been a stalwart and worked hard behind the scenes to move things along.”

Hart added: "My family have a long association with Bury FC and I have been a Forever Bury director for a number of years.

"I have been attending games since I was a  child and remember the highs and lows of supporting our beloved Bury FC teams over the years.

"We now have a bright future to look forward to together. One of my new duties on the board will be to listen to fans' views and report back on them to the directors.

"This is a new era of communication between the Forever Bury board and the club and I hope all fans, like myself, will look forward to being part of it."
