Lancashire Spinners assistant coach John Lindsay was delighted with how his side pulled together against one of the favourites for the Division Two title on Saturday.

The Spinners continued their unbeaten run with a 87-83 victory at fellow unbeaten side Ipswich despite missing injured forward Anthony Kuczaj after he sustained a knee injury against Derby last week,

Lindsay said: “I was really proud about how we pulled together as a team, after a long trip, and ground out a great win under difficult circumstances. Ipswich are a strong and well coached team and I don’t think they’ll drop many points, particularly at home.”

Ty Taiwo was back in the Spinners line-up following a six-week absence with a hip injury as the visitors started quickly to lead 10-7 after five minutes of the first quarter.

Steven Gayle and big man Steven Vaughan were combining well as the Gayles (Steven and Andre) hit three three-pointers between them to close the period leading 24-19.

In the second quarter, Josh Houghton took over where Steve and Andre had left off, hitting a further three three-pointers with Mark Rangeley adding a fourth to lead 46-41 at half time.

The Spinners began to struggle in the second half conceding a number of fouls but despite their difficulties the visitors dug deep and managed to hold their lead through the third and fourth quarters to win the game 87-83.

The Spinners look to extend their winning streak to five games when they face Brixton at Castle Leisure Centre on Saturday, tip off 5.40pm.
