BURY continued their run of good form by brushing aside North Lancashire Division Two’s basement club Crosby St Mary’s in their final game before Christmas on Saturday.

The second-placed visitors took the lead following some slick forward play by Jordan Miller and captain Jonny Allen.

Quick interlinking passes between centres Declan Hampson and Matthew Russell found winger Dan Scanlan who opened the scoring in the left-hand corner, with Adam Heath converting.

The home team pressed the Bury 22 metre line and an infringement from Bury led to the only points of the game for Crosby with a penalty kicked from right in front of the posts.

Bury responded immediately and were on the attack from the restart.

After a knock on, the Bury pack led by Lee Slingsby, Alan Dobson and Andy Townsend, were able to win the ball against the head and feed the ball back to scrum half Dan Palmieri.

Palmieri outfoxed the opposition, distributing to Heath, who having danced through the oncoming defence was able to increase the lead and convert.

Following further tries from Hampson and full-back, Callum Paton, the bonus point was secured before the half time interval.

Hooker Alan Dobson scored the first try of the second half before Rob Plant barged his way over the line and Neil Ogden crashed over the final try of the game.

Bury return to action at home to Eagle on January 10.
