GREENMOUNT captain Andy Kerr wants to bow out of the Bolton League on a high — by claiming the double in their final season as members.

The Brandlesholme Road men, who will switch to the new Greater Manchester League next season, are in contention for the title and booked their place in the final of the Hamer Cup with victory against Farnworth Social Circle last weekend.

The skipper is mindful they have not picked up a trophy since winning the treble — including the Lancashire Knockout — in 2011.

Kerr said: “I took over as captain last year because I wanted to help the club win things.

“I am really looking forward to taking the club into a new era and will be going all out to try to win trophies in a new league next season.

“But I do not want to be empty-handed when we leave the Bolton League. We have not won anything for a while and I think it is long overdue.”

Kerr led the way with the bat, hitting 68.

Greenmount had 163 on the board with 10 overs remaining but the partnership of Damion Keegan (47) and Phil Heaton (32 not out) boosted their total to 249-6.

That target proved too much for Social Circle, who fell 111 runs short thanks to a bowling attack spearheaded by Australian Josh Macey (4-47). Andy Lane was the only batsman of note, hitting 62.

Greenmount won the Hamer Cup four years ago and will be looking to lift it for the fifth time when they play Westhoughton in the final.

The match — to be played on Sunday, August 2 — is a repeat of the 2004 final.
