BURY paid for a host of near misses as second-half goals from Swindon substitutes Fabien Robert and Anton Rodgers stole a point for the visitors on an emotional day at Gigg Lane.

Fans in all corners of the ground took part in a minute’s applause for Neville Neville before kick off following the Bury ambassador’s death, aged 65.

And the home side looked inspired in the opening stages as Tom Pope headed them in front in only the fourth minute.

Leon Clarke then hit the post with a penalty midway through a half dominated by the Shakers, who just failed with the final pass or shot to kill the game off.

Any fears they would made to regret those missed opportunities looked to have been erased when Danny Mayor stroked home a superb shot from the edge of the box early in the second half.

But after another minute’s applause for Neville in the 65th minute the Bury players seemed to lose their focus and Robert halved their advantage on 74 minutes when his mis-hit shot found the bottom corner.

And Rodgers equalised with a sweetly struck 25-yard free kick seven minutes from time that sailed past Bury stopper Christian Walton’s despairing dive into the top corner.
