BURY's first and second men's teams both enjoyed 3-1 victories this week.

The senior side moved top of Division Three North after a successful trip to South Lakes on Saturday.

Bury trailed 1-0 at half time but star striker James Oakes volleyed in a thunderous strike to level within minutes of the restart.

Simon Major then put them into the lead after a strong run from midfield ended with a ferocious reverse stick shot.

The result was sealed when youngster Sam Plant scored his first goal of the season after a flowing passing move that included a good run from defender James Dillon and a great cross from James Larmett.

The second team also enjoyed a convincing win at home to Wigan.

Matthew Cooke mopped up, after Chris Lowe's shot was parried by the visiting keeper, to open the scoring three minutes before the break.

They then hit Wigan on the counter attack following excellent defensive work clearing a short corner, with Lowe showing great composure to slot home a reverse finish.

Wigan quickly got themselves back into the game through a short corner strike, but Bury hit back again to restore their two-goal lead.

Rob Brewer's shot was well saved by the Wigan keeper but he could do nothing to stop Dave Brown slotting home the rebound.
