BURY Ladies' second team cruised to a 6-0 victory over Glossop but there were defeats for the hockey club's first and third teams.

A depleted first team went down 3-2 at Manchester Moss Park, who maintained their unbeaten start to the season.

Livvy Barber scored twice to take her tally to five from three games, but the Bury Ladies were edged out in what was a physical encounter.

Despite missing captain Karen Nichols, the second team produced an excellent display to beat Glossop with Kate Howard, Sophie Foreman, Becky Richmond and player of the game Helen Beard all putting in fine performances, while keeper Hania Nicholson was kept busy on her way to a first clean sheet of the season.

Two goals each for Lorna Wroe and Howard were backed up with a goal apiece from Foreman and Beard, who beat two defenders to the ball before rolling the ball past the keeper to cap a fine display.

Captain Claire Makin led the way for the third team with her first goal of the season, but opponents Eagley Quins secured a 2-1 victory with a late winner.

Emma Kenyon and Bronte Kelly both made their senior club debuts, stepping up from last season’s successful under-15s team.
