WALSHAW face a trip to either Denton West or Flixton in the quarter-finals of the Derek Kay Per-Fit First XI Cup.

The Division One leaders are the only Bury-based club left in the competition after thrashing South West Manchester in the last 16.

But they have been rewarded with a tough away tie at a Premier Division side following Thursday's draw.

Exactly which one will be decided on July 10, when Denton West, who are eighth in the top tier, take on seventh-placed Flixton in their rearranged cup tie.

Walshaw won by nine wickets in the last round after bowling out Division Two's second bottom side for just 39.

With rain clouds circling and the dreaded bowl-out on the horizon, Walshaw’s bowlers made short work of their opponents, Ryan Tazelaar claiming 6-32 and Kendrick Hatton 4-7.

Opener Hussnain Abbas top scored in their reply with 18 not out.

Edenfield were bowled out for 77 after Clifton declared on 210-8. Brandon Diplock (2-37), Brett Storey (2-14) and Jim Flitcroft (2-32) did their bit to stop Clifton from posting a bigger total.

But Edenfield’s top-scoring batsman, Diplock (21), was one of five victims for pro Gareth Cross (5-30).

Division Two leaders Stand endured a sobering afternoon, managing just 69 runs against Denton St Lawrence, who reached their target with the loss of one wicket.

While Premier Division leaders Prestwich lost 6-2 on a bowl-out at Heywood.

All quarter-final ties will be on Sunday, July 17.
