RAMSBOTTOM'S teenage opener Will Turner has been selected to play for the North of England under-15s team at this year’s prestigious Bunbury Festival.

The 14-year-old Woodhey High School pupil joined the region's top cricket talent in extensive trials before earning his place in the squad for the festival, which runs from Monday to Friday, July 18-22, at Radley College, Oxford.

Turner has played for Lancashire in the county age group squads from u11s and is a member of the current Lancashire U15s team and is a part of their emerging player programme.

He made his Lancashire League first-team debut for Ramsbottom last season and has secured his position opening the batting this season.

The teenager scored his maiden half century in Lancashire League in May, hitting 53 in a convincing victory at Bacup, and has piled on the experience this season as Rammy challenge for the title.

They are on top of the table after 15 matches, leading second-placed Burnley by four points following last weekend's washout.

Turner, meanwhile, was recently presented with his first-team “baggy green” Ramsbottom cap as a recognition of his maiden half century.

Durning this year’s Bunbury festival, the North of England team will compete over five days against the Midlands, South East and South West as a showcase for the best u15s cricketers in the country.
