A THRILLING first place for Stephen Feeney in the final race of the North Wales Road Race series also clinched overall gold for Bolton-based Team Chronomaster.

Feeney stormed to victory in the fifth race of the series, a result that also sealed him fifth place overall in the individual standings.

Other significant contributions to overall victory for Team Chronomaster, which is backed and sponsored by Westhoughton businessman and cyclist Neil Wood, included a sixth place for Nick Pilling in the opening race and fifth for Craig Battersby in round two.

Wood said: "Team members took part in five separate events, spread throughout the racing season from April to September, which were held on challenging courses based in North Wales and attracted more than 140 racers, primarily from Wales and Northern England.

"Individuals were awarded points based on their finishing positions in the races and these counted towards the overall team tally.

"While Nick, Craig and Stephen provided the highlights, their performances were backed up by strong and consistent results from other team members in all the races.

"The team is now looking forward to taking part in next year’s series and is keen to repeat the team success and also try to take the individual title."
