BURY have made Sunderland Under-23s centre-back Tom Beadling their first signing of transfer deadline day.

The 21-year-old Barrow-born defender has joined the Shakers on loan until the end of the season.

He will slot into a new-look back four alongside fellow loan signings Taylor Moore and Cameron Burgess, as well as newly signed goalkeeper Joe Murphy, who joined from Huddersfield Town yesterday for the remainder of the campaign.

Beadling has limited first-team experience for the Premier League Black Cats, but did play twice for the U23s in the Checkatrade Trophy this season.

His arrival follows the departure of 17-year-old defender Jacob Bedeau to Aston Villa earlier in the day.

Bedeau's move was always on the cards, but it is understood head coach Chris Brass was unable to agree a deal to loan back the youngster until the end of the season, prompting his swoop for Beadling.
