LEE Clark is leaving nothing to chance as he targets 15 points from the remaining five games – starting with play-off chasers Bradford at Gigg Lane on Saturday.

The rescheduling of Bury's last game against Oxford United, which the Shakers lost 5-1, left them with 10 days free to regroup and recharge the batteries ahead of the final four weeks of the season.

Results elsewhere went pretty well for Clark's side, who have been left with a three-point cushion over the drop zone.

However, the Bury boss refuses to be drawn on the form of his relegation rivals, preferring to concentrate on the task facing his own team.

“We want 15 points from 15,” Clark told the Bury Times. “We have to look after ourselves, which is the only thing we can affect.

“The lads have had a decent amount of rest. Football in England is tough with Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday games so the rest has probably helped them.

“We are having to rely on the same eight or nine players who we are asking to do the job and they will have needed their down time.

“Of course, they were hurt (after Oxford) but we are not frightened animals who will hide away in the corner, we want to bounce back. We have five Champions League finals remaining.

“We have looked at it, we have done a lot of work on the training ground and in the classroom. We know we were wrong in nearly every aspect against Oxford but we have worked extremely hard to put it right.”

The Shakers will be boosted by the return of centre-back Cameron Burgess, who spent eight days away with Australia’s under-23 squad.

Midfielder Reece Brown has also returned to training this week after recovering from injury, while full-back Craig Jones, who has missed a big chunk of the season with a hamstring injury, is also on the verge of a return.

Clark added: “Cameron will be back which will give us a huge boost. Reece joined in with the group yesterday and Craig Jones is back and looking very good.”
