BURY and Elton booked their places in the quarter-finals of the GMCL20 with convincing wins last Friday night.

Premier Division side Bury set up a last-eight trip to Denton St Lawrence with a 77-run victory at home to Greenmount.

In-form opener Mohammed Jamal put Bury in charge, hitting 72 from 43 balls as the hosts set a commanding target of 172-8.

Greenmount’s Saad Khan opened up with a run-a-ball 29, but the wickets tumbled as the asking rate rose above 10.

Ghalib Sarosh made the most of the opportunities on offer, taking 4-8, while Casmond Walters finished with 3-10 as the visitors were bowled out for 95.

Bury’s quarter-final opponents, Premier Division leaders Denton St Lawrence, saw off Elton Vale by 68 runs.

Elton, meanwhile, set up a last-eight tie against Premier Division opponents Denton West after beating Edenfield by 10 wickets.

Anwar Ul-Haq took 3-2 as Edenfield were bowled out for 70 before Adam Stansfield (46 not out) and Matthew Ward (21no) knocked off the runs with ease.

Walshaw host Bamford Fieldhouse tomorrow night for the the right to entertain Stretford in the next round.
