GEORGIA Stephens showed she was a kick off the old block after both she and her dad Alan won gold medals at the International Combat Organisation World Cup.

The 12-year-old Bury Church of England High School pupil won the girls' 12-and-under 50kg points fighting division at the kickboxing tournament in Birmingham.

And her dad kept it in the family with gold in the 85kg veterans competition.

Unbelievably, the father and daughter success continued with training partners Olivia Booth, aged 11, and her dad Ryan Nichols, from Bolton, who workout alongside the Stephens at Bolton Dragons Martial Arts Centre. Olivia won a gold and silver while her dad claimed three silvers and a bronze.

Alan Stephens said: “The girls have definitely supported each other in their training.

“They’ve shown both real dedication and commitment to the sport over the years. They thoroughly deserve their World Championship win."

Georgia and Alan earned their places at the World Cup after winning titles at the ICO English Open in March.

“When we heard two years ago that the ICO World Championships would be held on home soil, we were determined to train hard and fight for a place on the England squad," added Alan.

“We all trained at least two or three times a week at the Bolton Dragons and also attended the ICO England squad training each month.”
