BURY went 4-2 up in the inter-league series against Bolton when the Over-45s won by an innings and seven runs as the first of five games held at Bury Sports Club ended 158(I)-151.

It was the first time since 2010 Bury Over-45s had done the double over their Bolton counterparts.

Bury batted first and all 11 players survived the first time round, but started to drop in the next three rounds after that.

By the fifth round they were down to just five, and by the seventh round just four.

But that was where the main damage was done to the Bolton field.

Wendy Irvine was out next, at first base on her 11th attempt, but not before her four rounders had helped her to a total of 38.

Jane Woodcock was next out, also at first base, on her 14th bat for 34 including three rounders.

Carol Beswick was also out at her 14th bat for 26 made up mainly of ones and twos and a single rounder, leaving Deb Pierce as the last batter who scored mainly twos and threes and was denned for 26.

Bolton lost two batters without scoring and by the time they got to the fifth round of batting they only had four remaining.

Kirsten Jackson fell for 19 including three consecutive rounders. The same round also saw the loss of Lorraine Monks for six, leaving just Tammy Kenyon and Dawn Haouaoui who were both put out at den after seven rounds of batting.

A half-time score of 158-85 saw the Bolton girls take up their bats again.

Batters fell steadily and of their previous last four batters in the first innings only one, Haouaoui, posted a double-figure score before being denned on 12.

This Friday sees the two junior (under-18s) sides meet.
