an exciting match took place at Bury Snooker, where Elton Lib B secured an excellent 8-1 win against hosts’ D team in the Irwell Street Metals Section A.

Martin Lee claimed the first and only frame for the Snooker Club on the black ball.

Captain James Fletcher was beaten on a re-spotted black for the second week in a row, this time by the excellent James Kay, who had also had a 41-break. And the breaks were not over there, Craig Steadman made breaks of 58 and 45 on the way to a win over Mark Turner.

Mark Rowland enjoyed a comfortable win over Richard Bell, as did John Anthony over Sal Amin. Arthur Brooks completed the rout in the last frame with victory over Ged Young.

In the Cornucopia B Section, Seedfield A got off the mark with a good away win at Whitefield Snooker B. Luke Donnelly got the visitors off to a flyer, taking the first frame by 30 points against Zia Aslam, while it was quickly followed up with a close win for Russell Thompson over Tony Green. Matt Green pulled one back for Whitefield before Timmy Morgan restored the two- frame lead for Seedfield.

J Lorenso enjoyed a good win over away team captain Derek Gallagher before Chris Morgan’s fine win pulled back the aggregate and secured the match points against Steve Coldridge for a 7-2 win.

In the Bury Bed and Pine Centre C Section, Radcliffe Central C got their first win of the season in the best possible way, an 8-0 whitewash of Tottington B.

The biggest win of the night came in the first frame for Alan Norris over Dave Brookes. Close frame wins followed for Andy Carson and Paul Lopez.

Carl Ryder won a tight low-scoring affair over Neil Rigby before Barry Mason continued the winning streak for the home side over Tony Wilcox.

And in the final frame, Danny Morris held his nerve to secure the whitewash for the home side over away team captain Pete Woroniak.
