FORMER Bury midfielder Simon Whaley has enrolled on an OLCI Construction Training course to become a fully qualified electrician.
The 25-year-old is trying to broaden his horizons while he undergoes rehabilitation from injury.
“A football career only lasts a short time so I need something to fall back on,” said Whaley, who left Gigg Lane for Preston North End in a £250,000 deal in 2006.
“Some of my friends are electricians so it seemed like a good choice for a future career path.”
