DEVASTATED Bury boxer Scott Quigg vowed to come back stronger after suffering a broken jaw as Carl Frampton ended his unbeaten professional record on Saturday, writes David Pye.

The Belfast IBF champion won Quigg's WBA title in the eagerly-awaited super bantamweight clash at a packed Manchester Arena.

Quigg admitted his disappointment but refused to use the injury, picked up in the fourth round, as an excuse.

He said: "I am killing inside – I am absolutely devastated.

"I am a born winner. If anyone shows you a good loser I will say they are a born loser.

"But I will come back and be better for it.

"As soon as I can get back in the gym I will be putting the work in to make sure it never happens again.

"I thought the first four or five rounds were like a bit of a chess match.

"I felt in control. He was probably a bit busier but nothing was landing.

"At the end of the fourth round, though, he caught me with a peach of an uppercut that has done my jaw.

"After that I looked to start going through the gears but maybe I left it a bit late."

Sky Sports reported today that Quigg had already undergone surgery to correct the injury to his jaw.

And promoter Eddie Hearn believes the former world champion's future remains bright, believing a rematch in Belfast could happen later this year.

Hearn said: "We had an agreement that if the TV broadcasters wanted the fight we would return to Belfast for the same split if Frampton won.

"Once Scott watches that back I think he’ll feel like he can win the fight.

"We would jump at it with both hands.

"I think outdoors at Windsor Park would be a good venue."
