WOODBANK continued their remarkable 14-match unbeaten league and cup run with two stunning victories at the weekend.

First, they steamrollered Lancashire County League visitors Denton West by 105 runs with Nick Haynes top scoring in their total of 184 before they dismissed their rivals for 79, with Simon Read’s 4-24 and Nick Kennedy’s 4-17 doing the damage.

Twenty-four hours later at Dukinfield the Bankers beat the rain to register an unlikely win.

The home side scored 65-3 from their allotted 28 overs with Quiasar Rashid top scoring on 31.

Woodbank were set a revised target of 52 in 17, which they reached after nine overs for the loss of two wickets with captain Brett Collins leading the chase with 33 runs from 26 balls, including two fours and four sixes. Dukinfield bowler Michael Finan took the most punishment, conceding 35 runs off just four overs.

Woodbank are now looking forward to their Walkden Cup final hosted by fellow-finalists Glossop on Sunday.
