BURY returned to winning ways in the Bolton Association, disposing of Golborne in double quick time at Radcliffe Road.

Golborne were all out for 97 as Kobus Scholtz took 4-10 and Alex Breckin 3-10, before both men returned with the bat after captain Simon Belston and his opening partner Ammar Baig were out for eight and nought, respectively, to see Bury home in 12 overs.

Scholtz was unbeaten on 62 and Breckin finished 17 not out.

Meanwhile, Danny Lomax returned to first-team action in style as Elton beat Astley and Tyldesley by five wickets at Leigh Road.

Opening the batting in reply to A&T’s 191-5, the wicketkeeper, who has been out of the side since the start of the season, hit 58.

Mark Goddard scored 43no while visiting pro Jimmy Cutt took 4-77. Elton captain Steve Filkins took 3-50.

Elton’s game at Adlington on Sunday was abandoned with the Bury side on 116-7, due to rain.

In the Bolton League, Phil Heaton was again in sparkling form with bat and ball for Greenmount after Kearsley had posted a competitive total of 253-8 at Brandlesholme Road.

Heaton removed the key wicket of opener and pro Devon Conway for 34, before finishing with 4-62 from 15 overs.

The talented all-rounder then hit a vital 51 as the home side chased down their target with two wickets and two overs to spare.

Earlier, Greenmount had been cruising at 121-1 before old stager Mel Whittle (5-98) got amongst the wickets, reducing them to 135-5.

Asif Zakir held the innings together, top scoring with 83 and putting a sixth-wicket stand of 81 with Heaton.

Captain Mark Steward then came in following another Whittle-inspired wobble, seeing his side home with a steady 17 at the death.

Greenmount’s match at Little Lever on Sunday was abandoned after the home side had scored 281, with the visitors’ reply on 35 for no loss.
