ELPM celebrated last Sunday’s Calverley Cup semi-final win against Westleigh Meths with a 52-run home success against Ashton Ladysmith at the weekend.

An opening partnership of 84 between Kevin Dodson (49) and Gareth Young (40) was followed by a mini slump before Ian Wade (22) and Steve Keyworth (21) steadied the ship. Louis Birmingham’s innings of 39 not out contained many powerful shots and he guided ELPM to 220-8.

Ashton Ladysmith lost wickets at regular intervals as Steve Dalton and Paul Hewart took two wickets apiece. Birmingham came on and removed the key batsman Dunn for 66 and cleaned up the tail with 4-35 as Ashton were dismissed for 168.

ELPM’s Calverley Cup final will take place at Woodbank’s Stafford Street ground on Sunday, August 25, when they face North Lancashire League Division One rivals Rochdale Catholic Club. The match starts at 2pm.
