BURY cricketer Kate Cross was part of the England women’s team celebrations this week after they retained the Ashes in Australia.

The 22-year-old, who lives in Walshaw and is the daughter of former Bury FC forward David Cross, stayed on for the T20 internationals after originally being picked for just the Test and one-day matches.

Cross helped England win the solitary Test match in Perth by 61 runs, taking six wickets in the match, and then figured in three one-day internationals, the last two of which Australia won.

Despite staying on for the three T20 matches, Cross did not play in the Ashes-clinching victory in Hobart yesterday, but could feature in the last two tour matches, the first of which takes place in Melbourne tomorrow.
