BROOKSBOTTOM'S bowlers were given too much to do as they fell to a four-wicket defeat at Euxton in the Ribblesdale League on Saturday.
After winning the toss they chose to bat on what looked like a good wicket, but the decision backfired as they were bowled out for 79.
Peter Betros top-scored with 21 while Euxton seamer Francois Haasbroek took 4/18.
In reply, the hosts also found the wicket difficult, with Mo Qureshi proving particularly difficult to face.
Qureshi took 3/30 but Euxton eventually chased down the total inside 29 overs.
Brooksbottom remain second-bottom in the Ribblesdale League, while Euxton moved up to third in the table.
An impressive knock of 85 from 44 balls from Kyle Ogden powered Brooksbottom to a 29-run victory at home to Edenfield in the Ribblesdale League's Twenty20 competition.
Ogden's half century helped the hosts to 146-7 before Ogden (2-30), Betros (2-14), David Brown (2-17) and Iain Collier (2-20) each claimed two wickets to bowl out Edenfield.
