IN a week of high profile first-class record-breaking partnerships from both Australia and Lancashire, the local batting prowess of two Bury under-11 boys rivalled the achievements of Smith/Rogers and Petersen/Prince.

Callum Hunter and Evan Williams, both aged 11, compiled a massive 343 runs for the second wicket as the Bury District U11s team amassed 366-3 from 40 overs against Hyndburn in the quarter-final of the LCSA Bob Hurst Rose Trophy at Rishton on Monday.

Having survived a scare on five runs, opener Callum bludgeoned 15 fours and five sixes while Evan stroked 21fours and a six in a scintillating partnership of energetic running and positive shot selection.

The duo are members of Greenmount Cricket Club and also represent Lancashire, with Evan playing at both u11s and u12s levels. The boys have enjoyed a remarkable season at all levels, helping Greenmount u13s to the final of the Lancashire Knock out trophy and Bolton League cup, along with similar progress in both u11s competitions.
