GREENMOUNT captain Andy Kerr was left to rue his side’s late-season dip in form as they finished sixth in the Bolton League.

The Brandlesholme Road men, whose final game at Heaton was abandoned without a ball being bowled, had looked on course for a league and Hamer Cup double at one stage but crucial losses in the last few weeks of the season scuppered their chances.

“Sixth place definitely wasn’t where we wanted to finish,” said the skipper.

“We recovered from a poor start and managed to get into the top two for most of the season.

“In the last three or four weeks we haven’t performed and we started dropping down the table.

“However, we do have a trophy sat at the club so we can be proud of that.”

Greenmount will be without both Phil Ingram and Chris Evans for their first season in the Greater Manchester Cricket League next year.

All-rounder Ingram, who scored 850 runs and took 44 wickets this season, returns to his home club Horwich, while Evans also stays in the Bolton League with a return to Bradshaw.

“Phil is a massive loss to us,” said Kerr. “He’s played here for three or four seasons now and since he’s come in he’s been brilliant.

“A player like that is not going to be easy to replace.

“We wish him all the best at Horwich. It’s the club he grew up at and he’s probably looking to finish his career there now.”
