SIBLINGS from Greenmount Cricket Club have been crowned national county champions following successful seasons for Lancashire in their respective age groups.

Thomas Heaton scooped the Royal London Under-15s Boys County Cup and sister Sophie clinched the Royal London U17s County Cup after victories against Surrey and Warwickshire.

Left-handed batsmen Thomas, who has played alongside his father Philip in Greenmount's Hamer Cup winning first team this season, was a member of the victorious under-15s at Kibworth Cricket Club in Leicestershire last month.

He secured the number three position in the team for the final stages of the campaign and also made an invaluable 32 in a rain-affected semi-final against Essex.

Older sister Sophie, who is also left-handed and bowls left arm spin, made some useful contributions throughout the season including sharing a vital eighth-wicket partnership for the girls' u17s in the final when runs were at a premium.

Both teams reached the finals after being undefeated in the regional competitions.
