UNSWORTH captain and pro Chris Williams played a starring role as his side produced a huge upset to beat long-time Greater Manchester League Premier Division leaders Prestwich by 157 runs.

Williams smashed 117 not out in their total of 203-6 before taking 4-25 as the title challengers were bowled out for 46.

Only Prestwich all-rounder Ryan Stanbury (22) made it into double figures for the home side as Williams and Ian Hall (5-16) shared the wickets, taking just 19.3 overs to finish them off in a devastating spell of bowling.

The result helped Unsworth haul themselves off the bottom of the table, leapfrogging Edgworth, while Prestwich's third straight defeat left them eight points behind leaders Egerton with nine games of the season remaining.

It looks just as tight at the bottom of the division, where Bury and Greenmount are also embroiled in a relegation battle.

Second-bottom Unsworth are now just two points behind fifth-bottom Greenmount, who are level on 30 points with Heywood and Bury.

Andy Kerr's Greenmount side fell to a one-wicket defeat against Flixton.

Kerr top scored with 52 as the Brandlesholme Road outfit put on 173-9.

And while their total looked a little short of being competitive, the Greenmount bowlers did a good job of protecting it.

Only Alton Beckford (53) was able to amass a decent score as Mark Stewart took 4-41 and Phil Heaton claimed 3-61.

But number 10 batsman Andrew Morrison hit an unbeaten 12 as they hung on to inflict a Greenmount's seventh defeat of the season.

Bury missed a chance to climb out of the bottom four after losing by three wickets in a low-scoring match against fellow strugglers Heywood.

Joe Lovell took 4-2 in 3.4 overs as Bury collapsed from 65-5 to 97 all out.

Only opener Akil Greenidge really troubled the scorers with 32.

Heywood's innings went much the same way, with opener Jayden Borg hitting 36 as the wickets tumbled around him.

Cosmond Walters took 3-17 for Bury but was unable to inspire them to a much-needed victory.
