THE funeral of former Greenmount captain and professional Terry Stewart will take place at St Hilda's Church in Tottington on Friday.

The service will begin at 10am, followed by the burial at Ramsbottom Cemetery.

There will then be a gathering at Ramsbottom Cricket Club, where Stewart played for the early part of his career.

Stewart was professional at Greenmount when they joined the Bolton League in 1984 and captained the side to their first title in 1988, with the help of future Australia skipper Mark Taylor as pro.

His son, Mark, went on to become the Bolton League's all-time leading wicket taker.
