THE bragging rights of Radcliffe are at stake tomorrow night, and the town’s major cricket club is determined to claim them.

Radcliffe take on East Lancashire Paper Mill at the former’s Racecourse ground in a T20 match which starts at 6.15pm.

And Radcliffe captain Michael Farley says the game gives his side the chance to settle a score.

“We want to be the number one team in the town,” he said.

“We owe them one because they beat us last year and we want to put that right.

“The people of Radcliffe can expect hard cricket. We are all mates off the field but as soon as you cross that white line all that goes out of the window and you want the bragging rights.”

It costs £2 for adults and £1 for children and pensioners to get into the ground but everyone who attends will be given honorary member status which entitles them to reduced-priced drinks.

Farley says his club are hoping for a decent attendance.

“We had have 1,000 flyers done promoting the game and we have posted them through letter boxes in Radcliffe, so hopefully that will let people know about the game.

“The weather looks like it will be good and hopefully kids who see the IPL take the chance to come and watch a game of T20 in their own town and maybe get inspired to come down in the future and play it.”

Radcliffe are bottom of the Greater Manchester League Division Two B after losing last Saturday to Hollinwood who are now second in the table.

And they face another tough game on Saturday at home to leaders Uppermill who have not lost in their opening four games.
