DOCTORS in Pakistan are hopeful that Greenmount professional Ashar Zaidi will make a full recovery from a life-threatening illness.
The 27-year-old contracted a virus, which spread to his heart and kidneys, but is making a slow recovery having been put on a life support machine in an Islamabad hospital.
He is, however, breathing of his own accord having been taken off a ventilator.
The Pakistan Cricket Board have pledged to fund all of Zaidi’s treatment.
Zaidi has been a popular member of the Greenmount side over the last two seasons, helping them to Hamer Cup success in 2007.
This summer, the Pakistan ace scored nearly 900 runs and took 80 wickets for the villagers.
