Manchester League Premier Division side Walshaw SC completed their season with two games in a week.

They began with a 2-1 defeat at home to eventual league champions Wigan Robin Park.

Early spurned chances came back to haunt the Sycamore Road outfit.

Wigan took the lead just after the break then Ryan Nowak equalised, but the Wigan side wrapped up the points with 10 minutes to go.

They then took a youthful side to Atherton and outplayed their hosts for long periods only for two defensive gaffes to let them down late on. Scorers on the night were Russ Brierley and Lee Chapman.

The club has finsished its first season in the Premier League in a respectable 10th position.

The end-of-season sportsman's dinner/presentation night takes place on Friday, June 6, with tickets available from the club on 01204 882448.
