WALSHAW travelled to Springhead and came away with a thoroughly deserved victory against a side who had won their opening two games.
Walshaw began on the front foot and it became apparent early on that the front pairing of Russ Brierley and Ashford Blake were going to have plenty of joy against the Springhead backline.
All that was lacking in the first quarter was the killer ball.
Twenty five minutes in, Walshaw had to make a change when Mark Slater was carried off with knee ligament damage to be replaced by Ian Gray.
Shortly afterwards Walshaw went in front when neat play between Brierley and Blake freed the latter and he slotted home for 1-0.
Five minutes later he should have made it two but, looking suspiciously offside, Blake shot tamely at the keeper.
At the break, Walshaw had to make another change when Phil Porter had to be replaced by Jordan Hulme.
The second period saw the home side have the best spell of the match but the backline held firm and, at the other end, Walshaw always looked dangerous.
