ELTON Vale topped the league for the first time ever after back-to-back for the second week running.
They beat local rivals Walshaw, 3-0 at home before repeating the same scoreline against visitors Royton Town.
In the game against Walshaw Vale broke the deadlock with a goal in 38 minutes with a spectacular Matty Barnes volley.
Vale suffered a crisis when goalkeeper Phil Kenyon was forced off at half time through injury forcing midfielder man Jon Maylon between the sticks.
But Elton doubled their advantage when Ben Sharples shot home with the outside of his boot.
Elton created more chances which were not taken until Craig Chadwick turned the ball home from the narrowest of angles to increase the lead.
Elton made most of the running in the first half against Royton.
Chadwick got the first goal after 15 minutes with a header from a narrow angle.
Ten minutes later Elton were two up as Barnes continued his scoring run by home rifling a shot.
When Dave Malius headed home from close range, Elton sealed their victory.
Elton’s reserves won for the first time this season in a thrilling 6-4 game at Wythenshawe Amateurs. Jon Darby got four and Jamie Treanor the other two.
Elton travel to play Leigh Athletic in an all-Manchester League tie in the Lancashire Amateur Shield (kick off 2pm) on Saturday. The reserves have a game at home against Chorlton and West Didsbury (2pm).
