WALSHAW’S injury-ravaged squad came away from Atherton with an impressive win.

The scratch team seemed to gel quickly with a three pronged-attack of Jordan Hulme Ashford Blake and Jason Finch causing the visitors plenty of problems.

But Pennington took the lead against the run of play when Cooke broke free and scored with ease.

Within five minutes Walshaw were level when Jordan Hulme in whipped a free-kick.

Cooke restored the hosts’ advantage in the second half and Walshaw looked up against it.

But they drew level when Nic Carr bundled the ball home from close range.

With time running out Walshaw brought on Brierley and he caused confusion in the home penalty area with the ball bouncing around in the box Lee Chapman hooked a ball back over his head to claim the points at the death.
