WALSHAW capitalised on the fine form of their returning goalkeeper Simon Marsh, who kept his side in the game in the early stages.
Initially thy struggled to break down the Preston side and were forced to switch their 4-3-3 system to 4-4-2 at the interval.
It paid off within 10 minutes of the restart when Jordan Hulme put Walshaw in front. Russ Brierly then hit a hat-trick to put them side in command. Ashford Blake rounded off the scoring before a penalty gave the visitors a late consolation.
Walshaw entertain Stockport Gregorians on Saturday, kick-off 2pm.
