STOCKPORT showed why they are the leaders of National League North West Conference as they took a 7-0 lead against the Bury Blue Devils.
Matt Taylor replied for Bury but the visitors could not stop a 9-0 scoring run by the home side, and lost the quarter 21-6. The same pattern continued in the second quarter with Bury being harassed all over the court.
The visitors were finding it difficult at times to cope with the defensive pressure of the opposition and were unable to score for five minutes, leading to Stockport winning the period 20-7.
Bury did improve their performance in the third period with Sulaiman Qadeer helping Matt Taylor out by scoring six points, but Stockport still won the quarter 22-9.
Bury did create good scoring chances even against the pressing defence of the opposition but failed at the final stage to put the ball in the basket.
This continued in the fourth quarter as Stockport ran out convincing 17-6 winners.
The Blue Devils play their final fixture of the season on Saturday at home to Toxteth Tigers. Tip off at Holy Cross College is at 1pm.
Top scorers: Matt Taylor 10 points, Sulaiman Qadeer 6 pts.
