Bury 81
Heckmondwike 63

Bury, searching for their first victory of the season, staged four matches in front of a good crowd on Sunday.

There was stern opposition for the senior team as Heckmondwike visited for a Division One fixture, with the Watsons, Tom Whitwam and Darren Kent familiar visitors to Goshen. It all went wrong for the home side, as Isordvek raced away from Chris Parish and Danny Taylor’s wheel duly collapsed as the visitors took a 6-3 lead. Dawid Renc moved next time out, with Adam Watson leading home Neil Howarth and Summersgill as the home side trailed by six points after two races.

Ben Scranage and James Elston raced to a tactical six points in the third, then Taylor and Renc raced to a maximum in the next race. A second race win from Scranage over Heckmondwike’s flying pole Isordvek, with Howarth pressuring throughout, gave the hosts breathing space.

Great team racing from Parish and Taylor, then Scranage and Elston, gave Bury two maximums.

The visitors hit back in race eight as Bury led 41-36 with the result in the balance. The youngsters, Taylor and Elston, took the ninth with a good team ride. A much-improved Parish took race 10 as Bury raced into a 10-point lead. However, the next race saw Scranage back in the pits as the visitors took a good 6-3 over Elston. Darren Kent took the 12th race for the Yorkshire team but a determined Bury secured the points with Parish/Taylor and Elston/Renc scoring seven pointers.

Race 15 produced a cracker as Scranage, Parish and Isordvek served up four terrific laps of racing.

Parish took the win with Scranage in third as Bury ran out deserved victors.

Chris Parish 17, Danny Taylor 15, Ben Scranage 14, James Elston 13, Neil Howarth 10 and Dawid Renc 11.

Bury 88
Glasgow 59

Glasgow were the visitors for a Northern Divison Two fixture and some good tactical racing saw Bury edge into a six point lead after three races.

Adam Turnbull and Joe Halloran then posted a fine seven pointer before Glasgow’s top rider McDougall took a good win in the eighth.

With Bury comfortably in front, Louis Turner moved at the start in race nine. Turnbull was in the lead for three laps but lost out as the visitors fought back to win the race 7-2.

Elston and Renc quickly responded, while Taylor continued his winning run and young Turner moved again. It was a great race 12 as Halloran joined Renc at the front, then Steve Mann raced into a good second in the 13th as Bury closed out the match with a 88-59 winning margin.

Danny Taylor 20, James Elston 14, Dawid Rec 17, Joe Halloran 15, Steve Mann 9, Adam Turnbull 11, Louis Turner 2.

The Division Three match was a resounding victory for Bury as Glasgow could not bring their youngsters. Both Adam Turnbull and Louis Turner raced to 16 points and there were also high scores from Bradley Sullivan, Charlie Thacker and Sean Etheridge.
