RADCLIFFE-based Muay Thai boxer Isaac Taylor was crowned European Golden Belt champion after a unanimous points victory at a fight night held at the town’s Civic Suite.

The 15-year-old, who is coached by dad John Taylor out of his Johnny T’s Gym in Bradley Fold, earned the decision after five tough rounds to inflict only the third ever defeat on Dutch title holder Mohammed Bouttasia, also 15, who is a veteran 80 of fights.

Taylor, who lives in Egerton, Bolton, claimed the crown in the 50k division in only his 38th fight.

His performance led the way for a string of impressive displays on the night from fighters trained at Johnny T’s Gym.

Melissa MacLaughlin, aged 24, stopped Maltese champion Matzardi Hersissia in the third round to win her international 54k Golden Belt fight by a technical knockout, although there was no title up for grabs.

Carl Haslam, aged 24, and Chris Resthall, aged 21, also won by unanimous decisions, beating Philip Garcia and Chris Mitchell, respectively.
