In Division One this week two of the fixtures featured all Prestwich matches, with the A team playing the B team and C versus D.

Both matches ended all square at 5-5. Of the players competing only one, Gabriel Wilding, managed to record three wins, and only two failed to register a single match.

Newly-promoted Burning Desire managed to pick up a credible three wins against champions Ramsbottom Town A, two of them coming from Steve Barber, which included a victory over Andy Jackson.

Tony Bate’s three wins and victory in the doubles enabled BAE to take a draw against Radcliffe CC. Little Lever had a convincing win over Carlton Club A with Philip Myers taking the only win for Carlton.

In Division Two, the early leaders are Prestwich E with 18 points and Coburg with 17. Prestwich had an easy 10-0 victory over Elton Vale and Coburg beating Seedfield 8-2.

Another Prestwich team ended in a 5-5 draw, this time it was their F team against Maccabi A. 4 players all won 2 matches in this fixture.

Rob Carter’s three wins for ELPM against Carlton B helped them to an 8-2 victory.

One win from each of the Holmar A team in Division Four was as much as they could muster in a 7-3 defeat to ELPM B. Despite being a player short GSOB A managed a 7-3 victory over Prestwich G thanks to the combined efforts of Barry Warburton and Andy Evans. Carlton D and Midges A both had good wins to become the early leaders in this league.

In Division Four, the highest margin this week was recorded by Midges C with an 8-2 victory over Shawfield E. The two Maccabi teams finished all square with Peter Cantor registering three wins.

Both Holmar teams lost 6-4, but Trevor Candler for the C team and David Bell for the B team managed three wins apiece.

The young Seedfield E team managed a fine 7-3 victory against a very experienced ELPM team, with all their players winning at least two matches.

Dave Watts remains unbeaten this season for Wardle but the junior team at Oldham CC managed to take 4 wins off their other two players.

GSOB B are looking very strong in Division Five and are already five points clear of the second team. Ian Barton from Wardle, with six wins so far, leads the top 10 along with Graham Hilton. Jon Fitton’s three wins, including one against last week’s star Maz Khan, helped Seedfield to a 7-3 victory at Shawfield F. Lawrence Painter of ELPM, was another player to get a maximum, this time against Seedfield G.
