A 10-year-old squash player from Whitefield has been crowned Lancashire Junior Champion for the fourth consecutive year.
Finnlay Withington, of Cliff Road in Bury, is now ranked number one in the country as he continues to develop into one of the country’s best young squash players. He started playing squash at just three-years-old having picked up the sport from dad Stephen, a semi-professional player, and grandfather Peter.
Former squash coach Peter said: “He just picked up a racket one day and started playing. He’s a keen squash player and footballer and hopes one day he can become a professional.”
Having already won the Manchester and Bolton national competitions, Finnlay is now competing against adults at the North West Counties Squash League.
He trains locally in Prestwich by Dave Scurlock alongside his dad, who is also the over-35s champion.
