THE second round of the Northern League fours event took place at Hull on Sunday, with Bury Comets in the lead after winning the first event at home last month.

Unfortunately due to circumstances, neither team manager or the teams top scorer were available for this match and although the Comets still had a solid top four, James Elston was injured after a training fall and was suffering from gravel rash and abrasions.

The first four heats did not go well for the Comets with a last and a third-place finish reducing their score to 10 points from a possible 16.

This put Stockport four points clear and a hard-riding Hull team three points clear of Bury.

The second group of four heats saw Bury get themselves together and take two wins and two runner-up places to take 14 points and move level with Hull on 24 points but Stockport move up to 29.

Round three put the Comets firmly in second place with a 15-point tally to move onto 39 points taking three wins and a second from four races, with Hull on 36 and Stockport 43.

The last round of four races, saw two Bury riders lose first place positions during the race. James Elston fell but came back to take second place and Kristian Ramsden took third place in the run to the finishing line.

Final scores were Stockport 57, Bury Comets 52, Hull 48, Astley and Tyldesley 33, Heckmondwike 29, Bury Meteors 22.
