BURY youngster Gabriel Simpson will represent Great Britain in the 2015 BMX World Championships in Belgium next week.

The seven-year-old Holcombe Brook pupil, who is ranked as the UK’s number one in his age group, will compete alongside 88 of the best riders in the world on Tuesday.

The Brandlesholme youngster, who learned to ride at the age of four, will need to compete in seven separate knockout races throughout the day if he is to gain the prestigious World plate.

In 2013, Gabriel raced at Novice level in the North West region and gained the experience needed to turn expert at the start of the 2014 season. From there, he gained sufficient points to automatically qualify for the World Championships this year.

Strong winter training and dedication has seen Gabriel make great strides in 2015 and he currently leads the National BMX race series for his age group with only two races left to complete.
