BURY'S Intermediate inter-league made it a hat-trick of home wins on Friday when they beat Bolton 218-138 at Bury Sports Club.

Katy Rector opened with a two and eight of the next nine batters scored singles before Beth Rector hit the first of four rounders in the innings.

Although Jo Rector failed to score first time round, she went on the score four singles before being out at first base.

Jamie Rector was last batter and denned for eight along with her sister Katy who scored two consecutive rounders on the way to being top scorer with 22.

Ashleigh Morris (12) and Ellis Kilcoyne (11) also finished with double figures, including a rounder by the latter as the home team racked up 92 runs.

Bolton had three 'no scores' first time round, but lost Chelsea Taylor at first base.

However, Melissa Dargan scored the first of Bolton’s three rounders before Hannah Paisley scored a rounder off her second bat, though she failed to add to her score.

Gemma Taylor scored a rounder to help her become top scorer and last batter with 10, but the visitors were all out for a total of 58 leaving them 34 runs adrift.

Bury made a steady start to their second innings, scoring eight singles, but Jamie Rector was caught out and Lois Watson escaped with 'no score' before going on to score 20 as one of the last three batters.

Ashleigh Morris started with three threes and scored 16 and the last three batters proved difficult to dislodge.

Last batter Sarah Lutkevitch scored 25 and Danielle Bradsell 23 – both including a rounder – as Bury powered to126 and a match total of 218.

Bolton lost two batters first time round, but Jenny Fairclough and Melissa Dargan scored threes and Levi Marsden a rounder as the visitors displayed a will to win.

But sharp Bury fielding had Dargan hit out for three as she tried for a rounder.

Bolton did score three more threes and rounders by Fairclough and Marsden, but the home side generally kept them in check.

Although they improved on the first innings by scoring 80, Bolton’s total of 138 fell well short of the target.

Marsden was Bolton’s top scorer with two rounders in her 23 followed by Fairclough with 17.

The senior inter-league (open age) sides meet at Bury Sports Club on Friday, but the Over 60 match, scheduled for July 26, is in doubt.

The Sunday Handicap second round was played on July 5 but the match between ABC XI and Hillbilys will have to be replayed on July 26 because of discrepancies in the scores.

The match card indicated a win by one run, but examination of both score books suggested either side may have won by one run.

The semi-finals of the Horwich and Pike Shield competitions were played last week and the teams in the Horwich proved to be remarkably well matched.

Darcy Lever C&SC D beat New Inn XI B by four runs (206-202) after trailing by 23 on the first innings, but Rivington Ladies recovered from five behind to draw with My2Feet at 152 each.

These two had played their Section M league match the previous evening and My2Feet came from eight behind to win by five.
