MEMBERS of Holcombe Brook Tennis Club are celebrating after winning two tournaments.

Hannah Warrington and Danielle Hock secured the ladies' doubles at the Lancashire County Championships in August, while a six-member team also secured the Lancashire Ladies Cup earlier this month.

Number one seed and reigning champion Hock and Warrington, both aged 33, progressed to the semi-finals of the Lancashire County Championship after byes in the early rounds.

Following success in the last four, the duo faced Meggy Hague and Liz Clark in the final.

They won the first set 6-3 but lost the second by the same score to set up a championship-winning 10-point tie break for the third set, which they won 10-5.

Warrington, who's mum Sue Lawson and step-dad Tony are head coach and secretary at Holcombe Brook, has been a club member since the age of five.

She said: "I had never won the ladies doubles before so it was a fantastic feeling to get the win.

"I wasn't going to enter the event this year but Danielle asked if I would partner her.

"I was never going to turn that opportunity down because she is a fantastic tennis player and has won the contest for the last few seasons."

Warrington, who also runs the club's regional tennis league team, is delighted that Holcombe Brook won the division last season to clinch promotion to the national league.

"We will be the only team in the Women's National Club to have two teams in the First Division next season which is fantastic," she said.

The ladies' team of Racheal Hyland, Meggy Hague, Bethan Taylor, Holly Clark, Lauren Dowling and Warrington won the Lancashire Ladies Cup with victory against Blackburn Northern.

The Holcombe Brook ladies won the final 6-0 in two rounds on October 4.
