BURY YWCA claimed their first win of the season on Saturday to leapfrog opponents LSA Netball into fifth place of the North West Regional League Premier Division.

The Bury Grammar School-based outfit fielded a strong starting line up, with Rachel Newbold making a return to the team, and from the first whistle there was some fast and frenetic play from both sides.

Initially the teams went goal for goal until Bury started to exert some home dominance and, following a determined effort from everyone on court, they led 20-12.

Bury YWCA kept their foot firmly on the accelerator to win the match 62-45 with young shooter Imogen Turner receiving plaudits from the opposition, and Tyrene Karim earning player of the match from trainer, Ruth Moreno.

Bury YWCA will be aiming to achieve back-to-back wins on Saturday when they travel to second-from-bottom Bramhall.
