YWCA Bury put in a sterling second-half display to run out 35-28 winners at Leyland on Saturday.
The victory was built on an impressive defence, which featured young debutant Sarah Ramwell, who put in a player-of-the-match performance.
"Sarah really showed some outstanding defensive play and made quite a few eye-catching interceptions," said coach Ruth Moreno.
"The defensive unit as a whole played well and kept out Leyland time and time again."
The winning margin would have been more, but for some bad misses in the opening quarter.
Bury trailed by three after the first period, but pulled it back to 15-15 at half time and the goals came thick and fast after the break, with goal shooter Katy Myers showing her experience at the head of the team.
Bury go into a three-week break in third place in the North West Premiership, with their next match at leaders Oldham on March 6.
