THERE were high fives all round for St Monica's Year 11 football team after winning the Bury Schools Cup for an unprecedented fifth successive year.

The Prestwich school were pushed all the way by last year's runners-up Woodhey High before eventually clinching the trophy with an 88th-minute winner.

Woodhey opened the scoring in the final, played at Bury FC's Gigg Lane ground, before Sam Baillie fired in twice for St Monica's either side of half time and captain Aaron Morley put them 3-1 up midway through the second half.

The Bury side then pulled two goals back to equalise before Callum Jolley sealed the title for St Monica's.

The team, which has played together since Year Seven and has also won the Manchester Schools Cup, County Catholic Schools Cup and been as far as the quarter-finals of the National Schools Cup in the past, showed great spirit to become the first ever side to win five Bury Schools Cup titles in a row.
