RADCLIFFE Borough were hit for six by a young Bolton Wanderers side in front of their home fans on Saturday in the first match of pre-season.

But after bringing in 19 new players and putting out two different sides in each half, the game gave new manager Bill Prendergast a great opportunity to run the rule over his new squad.

The home side, playing at the newly named Taurus Park, had a number of half chances in the early stages of the encounter.

Debutant Stuart McDonald was the creative force behind some of their best moves.

Boro had a good chance when Thomas Murray, also making his debut, whipped a cross in after a great turn, but the Bolton defence dealt with the cross.

New captain Jack Hindle then broke down the wing and crossed for McDonald but the Bolton keeper Jake Turner gathered his effort on goal.

The visitors' opener came from a short corner that was whipped into the box and turned in by Jack Earing.

Earing added a second before half time with a great shot from distance while Alex Honeyball also headed home for Bolton.

Lassana Nalatche, making his debut for Boro, managed to get a shot away but it turned out to be an easy save by the Wanderers keeper.

And Boro's Dillon Lomas came close to getting on the scoresheet, heading inches over.

Wanderers had the upper hand in the opening stages of the second half as a new-look Boro XI conceded a string of free kicks in dangerous areas.

Bolton finally added a fourth when Cameron Moore latched on to a rebound and converted.

And as the visitors dominated possession they almost added a fifth when Boro keeper Daniel Whiting ran out to try and reach the ball but was beaten to it, but Haydn Cooper was able to clear the ball away.

The fifth goal finally came towards the end of the second half after Luca Navarro ran on to a pass and scored past Whiting.

The home side went close to earning a consolation goal but Abou Sonogo fired wide with his attempt.

Whiting was called on again to punch the ball clear from a Bolton cross. Luca Navarro then added his second goal of the game after his initial shot was saved by the Boro keeper but the Bolton player kept his composure to slot home their sixth.
