HAWKSHAW'S Junior A team held their nerve to beat Winstanley 71-65 and win the Haworth Cup.

The competition, organised by Bolton Tennis League, is a handicap event and while Hawkshaw were given a head start the result was in the balance until the final set.

They held a four-point lead going into the final rubber but extended their advantage, winning the set 6-4.

Ben Meech, Charlie Dixon, Joe Jackson, Ellis Calland, Ashleigh Meech, Bryony Meech, Alisia Hope and Marla Davies all played their part in the winning team.

Hawkshaw coach Lisa Cartwright said: "I could not be more proud. Every single member of the team was magnificent.

"My nerves were in shreds though.

"It was brilliant to see so many parents and family members supporting them all."

The club is running its annual summer camps this summer, starting on Monday, July 18.

They run for five days each week, from Monday to Friday, with further camps starting on August 1, 8, 15 and 22.
